Today, I took the oath of office to become the 41st District’s new state representative in the Illinois House for the 102nd General Assembly. It is truly an honor to be trusted by our community. My husband and I both grew up in the Naperville community, and we are proud and fortunate to now raise our family here. Over the next two years, I will be devoted to standing up for the hard-working families of DuPage and Will counties and fighting for a better Illinois for our children.
New House Speaker
The first vote I took after being sworn in was for Representative Chris Welch as Speaker of the House. I’ve gotten to know Speaker Welch over many of the last few months, and I’ve seen his strong leadership in action. I’m proud to support him and work with all of my fellow legislators through what will be a tough upcoming session, especially as we work to provide COVID-19 relief for our families and local businesses.
Affordable Education, Healthcare, and More
I am confident that by working together and putting political showmanship aside, the General Assembly can build a stronger Illinois where individuals can receive an affordable education, affordable healthcare, and fair wages. I’ve been working with legislative staff to draft and file the bills that you’ve told me are most important to you—bills that, for example, address epi-pen affordability, make saving for college easier, and make it easier for school districts and local municipalities to lower property tax levies.
As the representative of the 41st District, I will work with all members of the community to implement positive changes that lift up Illinois. Please never hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance.
